Catalina Island offers a variety of fishing opportunities in both its inshore and coastal waters throughout the year. During the spring and summer months as the water warms the inshore waters become abundant with fish such as Yellowtail, White Sea Bass, Bonito, Halibut, and Calico Bass. In the fall and winter months fish begin to gather in and around the island’s many coves and structured spots. Catalina Island is home to one of the largest kelp forests in Southern California which makes for an ideal habitat for quality fishing year round. During this portion of the year fish such as Lingcod, Rockfish, Halibut, and Calico Bass become the primary targets for anglers. The Island’s rugged palisades and sheer cliffs provide some of the most amazing scenery in the state, as well as provide home to Bald Eagles, deer, and even buffalo. All which might be seen while fishing along Catalina Island.
